Else serve NS for what? For professional jobs to go to foreigners? FT docs are only meant to temporarily staff manpower shortages and otherwise be low level RPs/clinical associates doing saikang in the public system. Please think before you ask silly questions.
Disgruntled uncle spotted.

Hard to come back is not that got no job lah. It is that life is better in Australia than Singapore.

SSR stands for service senior registrar. someone who has exited (FRCS) waiting for a consultant job. SRP is senior resident physician (non specialist)

What is the market rate for locuming as GP nowadays and for full time GP? Can a GP go back and do hospital work eg say as a RP if they want to quit being a GP?

Hello guys!

I just graduated med school in Europe and wanted to get an overall picture about working as an MD in Singapore.
Should I specialize first in Europe (I'm considering either Family Medicine (~3.5yrs) or Internal Medicine (~6yrs)) and only *then* consider coming to Singapore, or is it possible to get a residency in Singapore straight away?
What are my chances to get into Singapore, and how do they compare now vs. after residency? How are the working conditions & pay? What is expected of first year graduates skill-wise? At this point in time, I don't feel well prepared to handle complex cases tbh.

For example, in my country I have excellent working conditions (good working hours, humane shifts) and an ok-ish salary, but the pay doesn't progress much after residency.

Any input appreciated

Is your medical degree recognized in Singapore? That should be the number 1 question.

Back in the days being we used to serve NS with pride because it meant something to be Singaporean. Uncle don't mind paying a bit more to see and support a sinkie doctor, cheap doesn't always means good!

Uncle, our neighboring nation's "National Car" could not compete because of government protection. This is a globalised world.
