y chiong so hard in a law firm ?

go inhouse n use ur free time to learn how to invest...way more fulfilling

Default DPP salary

Just wondering, what would the pay be like for a fresh grad Singapore PR (Malaysian) from NUS working as a DPP?

Would salary be increased substantially if Singaporean citizenship is obtained after a few years?

Default Uk qualified lawyer seeking work in singapore

Hi, I graduated from Oxford Uni. good A level and degree grades etc. I qualified as a lawyer in UK 5 years ago. I desperately want to get work as a foreign lawyer in Singapore. Unfortunately I ended up specialising in personal injury law which doesn't seem to have any equivalent in Singapore. Also I want to move away from PI and do something - anything else. What are my chances of being considered for a lawyer or paralegal role and what sector should I realistically aspire to? What kind of salary would I achieve as a trainee junior lawyer/ paralegal and do you think it would make much difference if I did Part A of the bar exam? Thanks

Is your degree in law or did you do the conversion course after your degree? If, it's the latter, then your chances are very low for Singapore in general does not recognise it.

Part A is only for Singaporeans/PRs; for foreigners try Foreign Practitioners Examination | Ministry of Law . You do need an offer from a local or international firm based here to do the exam though. And while there is a general shortage of lawyers and your Oxford degree helps, I don't think it would be easy to secure a job given your experience, as law firms (international ones especially) are big on commercial litigation and corporate law. Maybe you can try for inhouse roles in insurance companies or the like.

What kind of law specialty is in demand? I know there is already an overflow in corporate lawyers. But what about other less popular but in higher demand specialty?

I am a bio graduate in a research job. Any value in a bio lawyer? Hoping to get into law after few years of work. But damn it is so competitive to be admitted into local law programme.

Yes, can lead a comfortable life with 10k a month. THe person who talked about 200K or 2M is just "cui3 gong4 lan3 pa1 song4". Wanna talk big so that people will think he/she is of high calibre.
