Aiya in this era, who still charge by hourly bill aside from our industry and tutors? Imagine ur cai png auntie charge u by hourly rate on the time she uses to prepare your food. Or if your secondary schl/JC charge u by hourly rate, i think you hongan liao
Lol Buddha and Jesus. No such thing in the legal industry la. Don't expect compassion from the partners eh.

There is just that much money a firm can earn in a year. Everyone wanna take a piece of the pie. If the firms increase your pay, that means somewhere else, they need to cut the budget. A zero sum game unless you get more clients lor. but now even clients not willing pay much and use excuse like "oh got COVID", "oh if you cannot agree with XXX dollars, I switch firms liao".

Given the sensitivity you should ask around. I personally don't know the answers

They have super high turnover.. out of all the depts, they have the most leavers. Therefore, they are almost always recruiting.

Draw your own conclusions.

Someone here asked this question before, framed differently - what is the value you bring that the firm must remunerate you thus.

No one here could answer it apart from "just because". And everyone somehow got very upset when pressed on the value point, because they all seemed to think money grows out of thin air

Any thoughts on dating in the profession? I’ve dated quite a few in the profession and always found those in the profession to be quite demanding and ridiculously high maintenance. I’ve only dated one outside the profession so frankly I don’t have enough of a sample size for comparison but wonder if it’s just my luck. Am asking because there’s someone I know who I think is really really hot but I’m also concerned about my past experiences.

“Vanessa, if anyone ever asks me in my life what my nightmares look and sound like, I’m gonna refer to that.”
