Nah. They got people who are Magna only or second upper. Now nus law first class doubled the number as well, so it's easier to get in.

I am looking for a public notary to do some simple procedural work (certifying true copies, statutory declaration). Is there any Chinatown shops which I shld avoid? It doesn’t matter whether is LLB NUS or LLB KCL right?

You sure? I’m a corporate paper pushing lawyer so I’ve got no insight on this, but I’ve always heard people say that Thio Shen Yi is a sharp and able litigator.

TSY is more than a decent litigator for sure. But if the question relates to TSMP Corp, I fail to see how the litigation side of TSMP is relevant... did OP mean "opposing counsel" as in on the opposite side of the deal? If so, then it would be Stef's ability to assess, not TSY's

Did you just dig up a 1 month old post (that was in response to an obvious troll post) ...

Are UK non oxbridge universities really that bad? Why do you guys call them degree mills . Their graduates can practice in Singapore all the same too right.

Well.. if these unis aren’t difficult to get in. They don’t reject any applications, don’t conduct interviews before offering a place, don’t take much intellect and hard work to get a secondupper/ first, it’s quite like a degree mill, no? Their graduates may be able to practice but there’s no saying whether they are good or bad lawyers. Likewise, Oxbridge/local uni grads might not be good lawyers as well.

I’m a practicing degree mill grad myself so no hate here. Which uni you are from is more like a stepping stone to get hired at a bigger/ better/ superficial firm. One can get hired by a law firm and practice just because the firms need the manpower, not because they truly value you. However, you become a better practicing lawyer based on your work experience with your boss (whether good or bad working style or temperament) and his clientele, which will help you when you become partner in the future.

It’s just easier for the public and fellow learned friends to judge a lawyer based on the Uni or school or law firm they are from because it’s hard to pick out other differentiating factors until one actually works and interacts with them.
