the prob is tt they're unprofitable messes stuck w bottom feeding clients and outmatched by internationals in every sector of the market.

So not so much firm specific but the sg legal market is what you have a problem with

WongP committed to developing younger lawyers? care to share which team were you part of in WongP?

i guess mid tier firms are all crap in their own way.
that's a bit like saying it's not a specific local sinkie run SME that you have a problem with, but SMEs in general. Well, yes...cos they're all usually badly run nepotistic fiefdoms.

Salary for 3PQE
Hi all, currently a 2PQE corp assoc in a small mid size boutique. How much should I be looking salary wise. Planning to jump in 2023 to “Big 5” or something around there, once I complete over a year at my current practice.
Have job hopped before due to having bad experiences in small firms (<10)
Currently salary is significantly below market rate. I like the partner I work with but I don’t see a future as increments are minimal.
Is asking for 7k-7.5k reasonable?

If successfully clinched a role in b4 + drd, 7.5 is quite low for 3PQE. That’s the 1 PQE pay scale. Even as a lateral hire, I think asking for 8-8.5 range isn’t unreasonable.

I think mid tiers are already paying their 3PQEs like 8.5k or so. Think Withers Khattarwong.
So agreed an 8 to 8.5K, closer to 9K even, is well within expectations for lateralling to a Big 4 or DRD.

Most larger mid-tiers are actually paying at least 7-7.2k for NQs or "1PQEs" (from Jan).
So one would think their 3PQE pay is going to be higher than that.
