Not kidding sadly. They're even willing to take in 2nd Lowers. Not befitting of the "Big Four" label.
Not to disrespect those in the industry who got 2nd Lowers and went on to accomplish major things. But the type of candidates a firm offers traineeship to speaks volumes of their capabilities.

If hypothetically there were to be a "Big 10", which 6 other firms will be part of it?

Actually I’m curious what makes a “bad firm” bad. A lot of it to me seems to be just your casual bar talk with little substance behind it when probed. Late nights? That should be synonyms to any professional practice in any industry that belongs at the top. Cut throat culture? Again, any professional firm in any industry worth its salt will have this element to it. Horrible pay compared to international firms? Well this is how it is in the sg scene and not firm specific, and the diff betw b4 and the others aren’t that big now with the not so recent adjust.

Sh it pay, long hours, backwards mentality, tech n infrastructure stuck in the 90s, toxic management which includes micromanagers, capricious partners n treating staff like babies.
Mid tier sinkie law firms are really just local SMEs if u think abt it , except to the uninformed layman there's a veneer of 'prestige' of the legal industry. people in industry know better.
not that the B4 are much better, but u get exit ops, even shinier veneer of 'prestige' (again to the layman) and slightly better pay.
I would most definitely not be proud to say I'm a lawyer in a local mid tier firm lol. B4 at minimum, or inhouse or international better. Otherwise GTFO of law.

incidentally i also find it funny how you handwaved away the issue of crap pay when it constitutes like 80% of the problem in the round. believe me 80% of problems will be more palatable for young lawyers if mid tiers paid their lawyers on par with the B4 at the very least.
the prob is tt they're unprofitable messes stuck w bottom feeding clients and outmatched by internationals in every sector of the market.

Salary and culture is one thing, but the most important in my book is standards and commitment to development of the younger lawyers. You see this in firms like Wong P, but not so much some of the other big 4s and certainly not DRD.

Heard that WongP Litigation also gave out TCs to second lowers.
How the mighty have fallen, maybe should just have a Big 3, not Big 4, and certainly not Big 5.
