Could it be that our local universities are just that bad, that we unironically consider Oxbridge 'elite'? Elite in sinkieland, sure, but like I said - bring your Oxbridge degree to Wall Street and see how well you do in the financial and cultural capital of the human race. Where it really matters
Or maybe I'm overthinking this and there's just one too many Oxbridge graduates in here giving each other blowjobs. This is the most likely scenario, given how easy it actually is to get accepted into Oxbridge relative to HYPSM, and how many 'scholars' our government sends there every year 😂

No I agree with you. It's a fact that HYPS outdoes Oxbridge in every aspect. I am not sure why the typical Singaporean worships Oxbridge over HYPS. Probably a respectable middle class ambition.

Right on. Where would you place Oxbridge among American institutions? Not for law, but in general. Here's my list, because I know you would ask me too.
1-5: Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford MIT
6-8: Caltech Columbia Chicago
9-11: Oxbridge, Penn
12-15: Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Northwestern
16, 17: John Hopkins, Cornell
There's a case to be made that Penn > Oxbridge because Wharton as a business schools is just leagues above Said and Judge. But whatever, I'm gonna appease the sinkies here and lump them together. At most, Oxbridge is clearly better than the worst Ivy (Cornell) and slightly better than the smaller Ivies (Brown and Dartmouth). Against Harvard, Yale and Princeton? Doesn't stand a chance. And I am being exceedingly generous here.

How were retention rates this year? Were things a bloodbath at a particular mid-sized boutique doing NY work again?

yes can we back to the issues that actl matter pls
discussing the credentials of elite universities is next to pointless when 95% of us here are local uni grads

I would put Wharton alone and not UPenn at 6-8, because Wharton MBA is very, very elite in the financial sector both on Wall St and internationally.
Oxbridge outside of HYPS, after Columbia. It clearly is not MIT or HYPS. The rest sound about right.

Which is why you have this weird and unhealthy obsession with Oxbridge. NUS is so sh*t it makes Oxbridge seem godly. I don't blame you.
That just means Harvard, Yale and Stanford law schools must seem unbearably bright.
