If u look at DBS besides sg, only 2 countries with sizable presence is indo & hk. Even then they are run locally with a few snr mgrs sent there from sg. So if ur just finish school & want to get global or even asia exposure, best is go for global banks.
Yea right!
I'm quite look forward to overseas working experience. But then I afraid I can't adapt to the working peace and culture in HK as I know they work really fast. So I just wonder if there's any this kind of exposure during the MAP, such that I can make my decision more carefully.

I'm thinking more development opportunity would be available for fresh grad in local bank.
Global ibank, corporate bank, etc more likely to import talent within the region (even across regions) thru international assignment. Hard to stand out in those banks as a local fresh grad......

You have to be realistic. Global MNCs dun pay big money to send their people on overseas stints just for fun. Naturally they are going for the best and expect the best.

If your concern is you want to have a slower pace of life, less competition, take it easy etc. then expecting companies to invest big money to develop you in various overseas assignment isnt realistic. You are better off staying in a local bank doing local work. Its a trade off depending on your lifestyle choice.

Its a trade off at the end of the day. You can be a big fish in a small pond and feel better than a small fish in the ocean. But also know that in a small pond no matter what you will still be a fish, you can never be a shark or whale compare to those who start off in the big ocean. Depends on you outlook in life. Big risk big gain.

u be your own boss, want to open shop or not, what time open, what time close, how much you price your goods, want to sell to people you like or dislike, how you like it and how you want it, it's all up to you. you are the boss!

u think too much already. have you started working corporate life yet? reality, you are likely to stuck to one role for years. sponsoring a work visa costs money. but for Singapore, seems like it's open to everyone.

I did. I understand that.
But then my fds from HK and China really got lot of opportunity to move upward under MA or MT. The opportunity for an ordinary graduate and gaduate under MA/MT is soooo different! I know that's not the case here in SG so I'm wondering if I can have a try working out there. But I've never work in other country. I'm not sure if I can handle that. That's why I wanna experience a short trip in local MAP.

hey dude are u in some lala land? u scared stress, scared pace of life too fast, scared cannot adapt, scared competition etc. so u join a local bank's program for doing local work & now u envious of others & expect DBS to send u to hk for a "short trip" for no reason just for u to masak masak?

seriously so gian go hk, just book tigerair fly there lah. only $100+ now. if u got the guts go fight it out in global banks and compete globally, otherwise spend more time to do the job here that DBS hire u for and quit dreaming about being a management associate globe trotter.
