Default Internships prospect?

Hi,

I have been finding job for about 4 months but to no avail so far.So i am thinking of going for internship instead as i was from SIM and they do not offer internships to students. I want to ask if do employers value internship experience? Thanks!

internship surely help boost CV. but i can tell that you are quite desperate for a job now.For your current situation, it is better to go for contract or perm job, rather than internship. Internships offer only a token of allowance/ wage, plus the job scope may be irrelevant to what you studied or what you looking for in your career path. Think wisely.

Yes,quite. I have only had one interview callup out of like 150 job applications sent thus far.And issue is i am not able to secure interviews due to probably lack of experience?
Thus, i am really keen to do something as this job search is going nowhere.Thats why i was wondering if internship would help to improve the situation?

Go out and network with people instead of blasting out infinite copies of resumes.

Internship at a good brand-name company will help. If not, it's not worth the low pay.

seems like school name plays a part in getting interviews. sim students usually are already working before furthering studies. try recruiters or entry-level positions to begin with.

Hi, i have already sent my resumes to entry level and some even diploma positions too but still not much improvement. Hence, I am kind of lost as to whats next for me, having almost try every method possible.

well, those options should work for the average joe. review your cover letter and resume.

if you're brave enough, try the unconventional - set up informational interviews. your interviewee doesn't have to be a ceo. include your alumnis and past teachers. you build networks and people will be impressed. how to go about doing it, i can't teach u. start from google and linkedin.

Internships are only useful if you can get a good brand name company and have the opportunity to network.

In your case with a weak degree from SIM, no good company will bother to accept you for internship as they only want the best from the top unis. All you will end up with is lousy cheapskate small company who want to make use of you as cheap labour.

This kind of internship in SME will not help at all as the company is only interested in using you being cheap for low end administrative task. Zero value in building CV.

Try going for commission type job in generic low end sales to get some experience if really no choice.

and should just continue finding a full time job. do not bother about internships. You should only get the internship offers when you still schooling. The companies will only question why you still go for internship when u have already graduated

What did you study at SIM and what kind of jobs you have been applying for?
