What was your rank and vocation during NS?
They told me that I have to be an officer to be eligible to apply for ME4.
How and when did you apply ??
Thank you in advance.

Hi, i was a CPL from 1 CDO.
i'm not too sure if you have to be an officer to be eligible for the MDES scheme but i think your previous record in NS as well as your academic qualifications would play a large role.
I'll update you guys about what they actually look out for in the interview after it's over.
I applied just a couple of weeks back and received the notification a few days ago.
Glad to be a part of this community and hopefully i've been of help
Cheers

Don't know how they choose. A female friend and some other guys got interview slots though, can't see the logic on how they choose. I from armour.

AFE is super competitive.

I applied for AFE when I was in OCS. Went for one interview and got rejected, even though i got placing in NUS Mech eng.

After Common term i went into air wing. Realised that all the AFEs have good grades. Lowest GPA for poly is 3.8. For JC, at least AAB. I only had ABB and i think this is why they rejected me, or perhaps interview.

Apart from qualifying to OCS, academics still plays a huge role. Hope this helps young engineers aspirants.

AFE is very hard to get in one. It is a ideal job, you go in there cheong hard for 5 years, then get good pay and lobo for the rest of your life with guaranteed job security. Not many jobs out there in pte sector can get >10k pay by mid 30s, iron rice bowl and sit around eye power whole day & order the lower levels to do work.

Hi since you're in the force currently mind sharing what are the job scopes of the ME4 in your camp and particularly your unit? if it's allowed to be shared.
Cheers
