That's why i always feel best to negotiate for a salary that you really want before accepting any offer. Else very easy to feel disappointed. Why not u try asking if the company can increase your salary instead of looking elsewhere?

Will we give new employers/manager a bad impression if we negotiate for higher salary? I am at my first job, so no experience in negotiating. For my current job, i just accept since first job after grad. Thanks..

Haiz, supposed to have an interview at 10 am today end up I got it wrong and thought was 3 pm. I left the company embarrassed. Another opportunity lost. Don't think the company will want to refix another interview for me. Damn. Really unlucky.

High chance they won't arrange new interview for you already due to your own mistake

What's your age? Did you quit without a job?

I am the original poster. I quitted without a job cos I was asked to resign when my ex company shifted to a new office.

The management was trying to save cost even if it was trying hard not to make it obvious.

I knew it cos I was assigned to do the job of a hr manager when I was just a support staff. A lot of funny duties assigned to me and my gut is telling me something is off.

When the management did unwillingly hire a real hr manager, somehow, the duties were still sticking with me and when I showed my unwillingness to do a job that was outside my work scope with no increase of pay, I was asked to resign.

It is not as simple as you think.

As I was not trained hr personnel and did not have a hr management qualification, I was assigned to take over a hr manager duties after they asked the former hr manager to leave.

I was not willing to be made responsible for something I was not qualified to do so.
It was not fair for me.

I have been jobless for 6 months since and I am 43 years old this year.

Hmm, I think if the management give u a chance to try out different scope of work, you could have see it in a optimistic way and take the chance to learn as you have mentioned they are moving and cutting existing jobs.

It could be a way of so called retraining you to value add to the company.

From what you describe, it seems that you portrayed a negative image to them

In this bad economy, I believe most of us are not paid extra money to do tasks outside our scope of work. I believe that there some ppl out there doing 2 person job scope for a pay cheque.

The mentality of sticking to a definite job scope only exist in jobs 20 years ago.

No offence to you, the above is just my own opinion.
