i am handsome.
too bad you never had the chance to work under me. I am the most handsome boss around. So I won't be insecure. However, I only hire pretty female employees. So you got no chance. Sorry.

Thus a lot of people are used to the male boss style and programmed to strive under that system. So when they meet an unfamiliar system, they feel uncomfortable.

But we also need to know the "boss" origin, was he/she a passionate/hardworking/skillful person to obtain that position? So was that person parachute in when summon by their family members?

Lots of considerations there, but I guess generally, "bad" females bosses are usually paratroopers.

I am male, I dun get to work with many females because i am an "engineer". But when I do, they are always the marketing and sales people who thinks ipod was summoned and materialized out of the mouth of steve jobs. Those female, not my boss, i dun like them.

BTW: Micro manage is good, I wished I have someone controlling me like a robot, then i dun have to use my brain.
Dude. You won t be enjoying micro managing when you are really being micro managed. Imagine I have female friends working backroom, the female boss even control the skirt length they can wear. Once step into office at 8am no food at all, even if you ve not had breakfast.

I ve friends in sales the female bosses ask them to report sales figures 3-4 times a day everyday. Down to the products they ve sold and clients they have met and time of appointments. Meetings that can go on for 1-2 hours. And msgs that come come in during weekends as well.

My suggestion for you is go try a change in company. Experience working under a female boss and be micro managed. Than you can say whether you enjoy it or not.

I ve had 8 bosses. 5 Females. 3 Males. For males 2 good, 1 bad. For females, 4 bad, 1 good. My definition of good is respect you as a person and employee. Give trust in you and your work. But of course got problems than also have to point out. The male bosses tend to leave me alone, look mainly at the end result. If end result is good, they happy, I happy. End result not good, than get some talking, settle everything, very straightforward. Work life balance better also. Sometimes work late male boss even ask me why work so late.

For female bosses, good or bad, also have something to say and want to interfere in the work process. For some reasons they liked working really long hours also, even though its quite clear to myself when I see most people stay back is because scared to leave early but acting busy only. And they tend to practice favourtism more, so really have to carry balls, more politics. I guess maybe because females more emotional. The one good female boss we had was more like a male, she was like a buddy to the male guys. haha...

Not all female bosses are bad, and not all male bosses are good.

And I can say that there are male bosses who micromanage. Worse still are those who are not your direct superior but your superior's superior instead.
