Do women generally make lousier bosses?
Ok I know this thread might raise some nerves and stoke some flame, but it is not meant to be that. I m just curious about the general feedback from people. My personal experience is female bosses tend to micro manage too much, and can get quite emotional. It can make the working environment very very uncomfortable for everyone. And the level of micro managing can sometimes drive one crazy. Very little things that don t really matter much to the end result.
Don t get me wrong, I ve had good female bosses but the interesting thing is the good ones had more male traits than female. My personal experiences with female bosses are generally not so good. The male bosses I had tend to micro less and they really care more about whats delivered at the end of the day. Generally better experiences but that being said, there are of course not so good male bosses as well.
I ve asked this question to female and male friends as well and the experiences seem similar. I stand corrected.
What are your experiences?

They wear a mask everyday. When they took it off you will be freaked out.

As a female who have worked under bosses of both gender, I find male bosses are better because they are more driven in their job, more honest in feedback to staff, and more mature. Females tend to be more scheming type...

Same poster here, also to add that male bosses tend to recognise the effort more, no such thing as jealousy that tends to surface between female-female work relationship.. I had better career progression under male bosses ( on legit grounds duh).

female bosses have been nice to me. male bosses have felt insecure because most of them have been not so good looking.
i am handsome.

I think that female bosses managed their work is highly dependent on their "mood" at that point of time......

Hmm, I think the definition of "good" and "bad" has to be clearly spelled out first. I am sure there are more male bosses than females bosses, as there are more males working...
Thus a lot of people are used to the male boss style and programmed to strive under that system. So when they meet an unfamiliar system, they feel uncomfortable.
But we also need to know the "boss" origin, was he/she a passionate/hardworking/skillful person to obtain that position? So was that person parachute in when summon by their family members?
Lots of considerations there, but I guess generally, "bad" females bosses are usually paratroopers.
I am male, I dun get to work with many females because i am an "engineer". But when I do, they are always the marketing and sales people who thinks ipod was summoned and materialized out of the mouth of steve jobs. Those female, not my boss, i dun like them.
BTW: Micro manage is good, I wished I have someone controlling me like a robot, then i dun have to use my brain.
