Security agencies usually take a while more like for security checks to clear before they contact you. Because that’s your bigggest hurdle. No point offering someone and later they cannot get the require clearance.

They do security checks first? I thought security clearance was done after round 2.

Thanks for replying! I recently done my health checks, I shouldn't assume that I passed my clearance as a result yeah?

Anything can go wrong until you cleared everything.

I know how it feels, although usually most people should clear if its for a relatively ordinary job, unless you need like the highest tier then maybe a little longer.

All the best for the job! Cheers

Do the civil services do security checks before calling for interviews?

if I have accepted a job offer which is not my first choice, should I continue to find other jobs? I just saw new postings in the same division (but different function) which I am may be more keen. then I realised they are under the same director that I went for the interview.

They said they will proceed to do some background checks with my previous companies' hr departments, and will come back with a written offer in 1 - 2 weeks, saying everything is more or less confirmed. They just called today to say 'they didnt manage obtain the clearances for this vacancy'. I asked them to elaborate but they said they cant disclose organisation policy, the main theme is they are now closing the positon i applied for. Does this mean their upper management suddenly decided to remove this vacancy for various reasons or is this just an excuse to pursue another candidate? I dont have any particularly dodgy personal or employment records (have worked in ministry and stat boards prior) so i dont think my background will fail. Is this a common scenario in public sector hiring? Obviously i am quite devastated as i have never had a verbal offer in the public sector not followed through
This don't usually happen. How long it take to provide verbal offer from NParks's HR after your last interview?

For 2nd round interview, what are they looking for?

Do they ask the same questions as round 1?
