Nowadays asking their budget for the position is the only way to gauge the real thing. Because most HR jobs no hard KPIs or financial deliverable, it is very easy to say until heaven & earth.

The caliber of the hiring manager who interview can also give a clue. For e.g. if the hiring manager is a HR Director who seems to have only local knowledge, no business insights, more concern with ops activities, too old & backward thinking like your typical 40+ auntie, then chances are anyone reporting to him/her also ops & admin in nature.

I am currently a HRBP in a one of the big local GLCs with more than 20 years HR experience and heard a lot of people mentioning Cultural and Diversity COE as the next big “in” thing in the HR world. An ex-colleague doing recruitment told me a lot of MNCs are hiring specialists in this area at 350k+ total package.

I don’t have the required C&D experience per se, but am willing to move into a culture / diversity role on the same pay (currently 250k inclusive of bonus & allowance) if the opportunity for growth is there as I really want to try out something new but yet related to HR.

Anyone has tips to share on how to position my CV and what are the competencies and skillsets they usually look for?
Heres an opportunity

i see where ur coming from, but isn't it very rude to ask the interviewer what is the budget of the job straight away ?

I know of a HR manager who joined from a totally different industry..yaya and look down on certain people....wanted to help company same costs with her strategy of converting non-critical role people to contract-based positions...then these people left slowly one by one for better prospects and she screwed up the company big time....silly..lousy strategy..why save money for the company when they can afford to pay...

I haven't been able to nail a job despite attending interviews actively.
I am trying to look into areas that I can improve (e.g.: resumes, interview process etc.) and also consult an employability coach. The main issue is that I haven't been facing any difficulties in most interviews but I am not shortlisted.

It has been over 3 months since my 6-months contract for a Executive, HR ended. I handled the full generalist aspect and had the opportunities to take on additional workload. I was not renewed or converted due to no placement and my reporting officer recommended me well too. Btw, I draw a competitive salary compatible to an entry level graduate.

I graduated in 2013 with a degree from a private institution and has been on-off under contract employment. I have chalked up about 1 years or so in HR experience and I am looking to gain more with a new employer.

Being unemployed isn't seem rosy but I hope that a HR professional here can provide some insights and recommend me to your team.

Thanks.

(P.S: For opportunities or to contact me, kindly drop me a pm)

Hey Lanki, I was also in the same position as you almost 1 year ago.
Back then I only have 1 year of HR admin position and I left the company as I wanted more exposure.

Just as you said, on and off on contract jobs to make ends meet and accumulate exp at the same time and I did experience around 6 months of unemployment so I can understand how you feel.

Unfortunately I don't have any lobangs to share but just would like to tell you don't give up and keep applying for those HR positions. I feel that at the end of the day it's up to the employer to see whether they like you or not but stay strong.

This kind of admin level role is law of large numbers, just apply as many as you can and sooner or later something will stick. That is how the game is played.

Are you male or female? For generalist admin roles usually companies will prefer ladies so if you are a guy will be quite disadvantage.
