That's because you came in 2017 with a higher starting pay. Increment from GEO2 to GEO 3 also higher

2017 Jun - GEO 2 (4.1k) (N.A.)
2018 Oct - GEO 3 (4.8k) C
2019 - 4.9k B
2020 - 5.1k A
2021 Apr - GEO 4 (5.56k)
2022 - 6k B
2023 - 6.2k
6.2k after the most recent merit increment. Also around 6th to 7th year.
Maybe you chart your progress out and see which part differed?

Hi all, just wanna ask how significant of a paycut for a mid-career switcher. Am currently 38, drawing 7.3k in the civil service. Looking to switch over to a career in teaching.

40% paycut approx
You may be paid max 4.5k if they value your prior experience. Otherwise, expect fresh grad pay according to degree class

Does movement policy within civil service apply if switching over to teaching?

I believe it's a case by case basis for mid-careers. I was paid 5.4k starting salary, construction industry, mid 30s.

How do MOE post teachers for their first posting? I am always told that it is based on distance and manpower requirements but somehow when I search for zonal directors/cluster supt/director in MOE HQ they always come from some renowned school that are at least quite good in their academics. Assuming they are all scholars (maybe minimum teaching scholar, not very sure), was wondering whether is it really based on distance or are there some hidden considerations that come with teacher's first posting?

I wonder too. When you cross from one ministry to another, does your 'long service award' continue or got reset at the new ministry?
