this example is quite worrying though...are there many out there experiencing such slow progression too?

There's a chance that he included his 2 year NS, or that either he is the lower performer due to whatever reasons, or that he came from Dip Ed. Dip Ed who even after being emplaced onto the 'Degree' mode via SUSS/SIM etc, do face a lower salary as compared to the direct graduate. This has been unspoken but known for a long while now, from the GEO1 (Deg) vs GEO 2 (Dip) in the past.
So it's slow, but for a reason. I wouldn't say it is particularly slow either. it's probably a tad below average?
I do know of people who are average C (sometimes C-) performers for 8 years, getting lesser than 5.9k (around 5.5k)

The new addition looks a bit fishy ah
Timeline quite impossible. Even for FCH govt scholars
GEO3 to GEO4 in 2 years possible but rare liao. It's the pay that red flag. Impossible to be above 6k even if u A grade in that 1 year when u don't get default C. Unless u mid career switch and already late 30s or something. Then must say. If not so quite misleading ah.

2017 Jun - GEO 2 (4.1k) (N.A.)
2018 Oct - GEO 3 (4.8k) C
2019 - 4.9k B
2020 - 5.1k A
2021 Apr - GEO 4 (5.56k)
2022 - 6k B
2023 - 6.2k
6.2k after the most recent merit increment. Also around 6th to 7th year.
Maybe you chart your progress out and see which part differed?

Your geo2 to geo3 salary jump of $700 is quite a lot.
I only got around 10% increment for that, around $400+.
Geo4 increment was a laughable $300+. B grade the previous year, and the increment was lower than the geo3 cohort promotion increment.
Annual increments ranges between 150-200s.

10% PI, $200 seems feasible to get at least +$600

Possible to be TSO, EMS or PSC, or mid career.
Promotion rates have slowed. Now need at least 3 year in grade before GEO3 to GEO4 promotion.

Just received invite for FLP, non scholar and non KP. Wondering what's the criteria, because there's just so many rumours floating around. Is there an allowance? Any age cap to enter the programme, and does it mean there will be KP opportunities? TIA
