Realistically speaking, a decent performing 5 YOE GEO3 would be at around 5.7 to 5.9k now.
Despite the large adjustment for GEO3, there's still news of young GEO3s leaving. The adjustment probably increased their chances of negotiating for a higher pay in other sectors hmm

I suspect a lot geo 3 after 4 or 7 years of connect plans, they will leave.
geo 4 and 5 are the ones who are sort-of suffering the middle child syndrome - nor here or there, but just gotta move up, waiting for the SEO people to leave/retire.
the longer retirement age is also causing big issue of saturation.

can't blame them, largest increment means they were underpaid especially those who are stuck in this grade.

Slowing down promotions from geo3 by such a large extent was a mistake la.. For most people, their first promotion was from geo2 to geo3, which was cohort promotion that came automatically without much extra effort. Being stuck at geo3 may signal to them that the system doesn't value their contributions enough and some feel that they are not good enough in the eyes of MOE to earn a promotion on their own merit. (Source: young officers in my sch as well as one of my JH)

Money alone does not solve this problem. We are not expecting the attrition rate at the geo3 level to slow down at all.

Makes sense. It can't possibly feel good being stuck after 7 years in the same grade as the BTs in one's school, no matter how wide the pay range is.

was just wondering if a masters in the relevant subject area is necessary to qualify for the specialist track? I heard (not sure how credible my info sources are) that it's needed for subjects like Mathematics/English..
