I dun mind bringing work home or staying back late sometimes for cca or remedial, but is going home on time generally (I dun mean I shoot out of the gate once the bell rings) a taboo?
A suggestion for you..
a) Talk to your RO about why you can stay back often. Eg.. you have children to take care or elderly parents.. explain the rationale and tell them that you will still complete all your task.

b) With regards to committee... you may want to propose some committees that you have expertise on.. eg if you are good in IT.. you can consider Timetabling/Exam.. if you have experience in publications... school publication committee... some committees spend less time meeting in school and more time on independent work.

c) Having said that, I have to agree with most people that it is going to be difficult for you to leave very early every day...because of the nature of our work... chances are ... you can target to leave at 2.30pm at least once a week and by 5pm for most days...

For me..personally, I end up staying back until 6.30pm everyday..... but this means, i do minimal work at home...

But if you are a new entrant to the teaching fraternity, take a challenge... dont worry about the event success/failure.... it is always a good experience that you will appreciate later on..

do take care...

This is probably one of the best jobs in the world...
Same here, teach in a sec girls school, the girls often anyhow seat with legs wide, all kinds of underwear color also can be seen, this is the key motivation of having to wake up early as a teacher to reach school at 7pm as compared to other profession.

often during assembly in the morning the sight of school girls zao geng is super shiok.

Wink Query about overseas posting

Hi,

Does anyone has any experiences working in an overseas posting. If you have been there or heard your colleagues about it, can you share more?

I'm a male chinese language (primary) teacher.

BTW, if I happen to pass the interview and go for the attachment, will I not be eligible for promotion until when I've come back to Singapore.

Hope to heard from you all soon.

As long u plan your materials in advance, get them sorted out during the hols... should not be an issue to leave on the dot. I'm never late for submissions and all. Apart from meeting day and cca days or remedial days.. I'm off usually at 3pm. If remedial then 4pm.

On avg... it's about 1 day 6pm for cca.. 1 day 5pm and 2 days about 4pm.

The odd day is 3pm. If no cca... fri 12.30pm I'm out of sch.

I make it a point to leave school on the dot when the bell goes off. Usually that happens twice a week. As for the other days, I will leave once remedial/meeting/cca is over. I mark at home though. I have never cared about how other people see me. There are people who believe in the need to stay back for fear of being judged as someone whi eats snake. But...I have never defaulted work or missed deadlines. Apprisal has been positive so far for the last decade.

I find it funny that MOE doesnt give sufficient training on time management when it is so obvious this is such a critical skill required by teachers!!
