PDGE Queries
Hi all, I am looking to do a mid career switch into the teaching line.
I am a local Uni grade, 2nd lower with 2 years working experience (unrelated field - drawing $4k/month).
What will be my starting pay like?

Hi, anyone knows typically how many % of the PGDE cohort graduates with PGDE (Distinction), PGDE (Credit) and/or a Distinction in Practicum?

It's very hard to get into teaching these days.
There are excess teachers.. The mid career teachers whom I have seen these days are actually doing well outside and took quite a substantial paycut to enter teaching..
To qualify even for contract teaching, you must pass 3 tests.
A 300-500 words in the spot written essay
A 10 minutes micro teaching
A panel of 3 interviewers, one of whom is an experienced principal.
Only which when you fulfilled all three criteria then you can join contract teaching of up to 1.5 years where you are further assessed on your suitability for teaching training at nie.
2 years non related experience means u start off as fresh grad pay.

Lol, I got a teaching award quite easily while at NUS. Second upper class honours + 1 interview, that's all. In return I'd free uni education.

Distinction for practicum. It's considered very rare. Maybe a handful out of 100.
Needs to be moderated by nie external assessors.
PGDE (Distinction) is not that difficult to attain with at least a credit for practicum and GPA of 4.5 and above. Not really difficult.
