Honours class doesn't determine promotion rate, at least not in the Education service.

Honours class does affect promotion rate because your entry CEP is based on your qualifications. A person with FCH is accessed to be more capable than someone with just a 3rd class honours or a pass degree.

But obviously also dependent on work attitude. If not enthusiastic about taking on higher load and responsibilities, and simply doing the bare minimum, then FCH will not make a difference.

The critical factor is the level of scholarship then follow by individual contributions and performance. Class of honours is not a critical factor.

Only the NTU-NIE TSP may help a bit. Other uni/faculty scholarships don't confer any special privileges.

The scholarships that really give you automatic accelerated progression are EMS and above. Of course, you must sustain the high performance and be able to deliver on your stretch assignments, otherwise you can still be relegated to the back bench as a high-tier scholar.
