for an average performer, this might just end up being the same going either way?
but simple mathematical statistics will show us that ranking for 5a will be brutal, since the population size is so little and assuming the bell curve model is still used

Current climate is that even geo3 and geo4s are pushed to take on geo5 workloads. Paygrade doesn't matter. As long as you are deemed to be an old bird with enough youth in service, you are expected to take on higher responsibility.
Geo5a is for people who want to be HOT. If not, they should be on the SEO track taking KP roles. Once you hit the terminal paygrade, and don't intend to progress further, does it matter if you get a C or C-? You are not going to be promoted anyway.
Furthermore, the system is so top heavy, especially with reduced recruitment in the past 5 years. Quite a number of SEOs are asked to step down to free up space for others. It's only a matter of time when geo5a estab gets filled up.

Is it easy to convert to MX? Like if we just apply through careers@gov? Will they be open to converting EOs, and will they try to match your current EO pay? Thank you! Thinking of jumping to other ministries after bond ends in June. Currently year 3 teacher.
Also is there ever a good time to jump without being too disruptive to the school? Will the school hold you back if you leave in like August? Thank you!!

they will NOT match, there is a fixed formula to downgrade EO to MX. know a few who have done so. if u notice at start EOs earn more ie there is an EO premium .

Is this tied to your substantive grade? GEO3 -> MX12, GEO4 -> MX11?
