There's the image of the Holy Teacher and there's the reality of actual teachers who might not be holy.

Most teachers are degree holders, so the salary is really not bad for a job that entitles one to weeks of school holidays each year. Starting pay for a degree holder is like 3900...untrained contract teacher. Males get more.
Teachers w/o degree are a dying breed, literally.
For years, the minimum has been a degree to teach in primary schools.

Typical neighbourhood teacher mentality la. Everything must sui sui for you before can teach meh? Cannot adapt and work with what u have? Nowadays the curriculum review cycle is getting shorter, so HQ is also working on agile mode. There are so many resources available on SLS, OPAL but teachers like you still kao pek lol

I was in both a mission school and neighbourhood school as a teacher. From what I see, both schools have the same kind of teachers, some good, some bad. Some people can KP for everything. Nothing is ever good enough. Then got those that just teach, who cares? As if we can change anything. Textbook not clear enough? Too detailed? Then do the adjustment on your end when you deliver your lesson lah.

Generally they are the older batch. And most of them already gone through SUSS/UniSIM for a degree. Many dip teachers have left. Just not worth it.

You can't blame teachers for not being holy. The public has to stop stereotyping. Teaching is a job, not a religion. Content knowledge has nothing to do with have good values.
