MINDEF DXO (All FAQ on it)

Hi

Some questions regarding about Mindef. If I am a 2nd upper honours fresh grad from one of the local university and I am applied for a position that requires only a diploma.

Would I be paid based on my degree or would they give me a diploma pay?

In addition, would i enter Mindef as a DX8 or DX9

I think that Mindef will pay you based on your qualifications that you entered with

No. you are overqualified.

its like if im hiring a cleaner. i wouldn't pay him degree pay just because he has a degree. you cannot expect someone to pay according to your degree as compared to paying you according to your job scope.

Hi there, i hv worked almost 20 yrs with 10 years in the same function. I just applied for a Manager's position at DXO. I m a Singaporean & i hv a 2nd Upper Hons frm a overseas university. I hv a few questions if some of u can help me out

1. What is the working culture at MINDEF like?
2. What sort of work life balance would i expect?
3. Would the pay be competitive?
4. What job grades would apply to someone with my experience?

Hi there. hope i can shed some light based on my experience.

Working culture depends on your unit/dept itself. Some are administrative in nature, some is project based and some are operational based. If you are in operational based, it will be more time sensitive and 'more stressed' as tempo is high.

work life balance is there if you are those who insist on knocking off work on time. myself, i always choose to OT although no one forces me to. its a personal sort of responsibility. no right or wrong.

pay is always competitive for DXOs. dont expect to get rich though. we are still civil servants and we cant compare to bankers and those who work their way up in the private world. the pay is a gradual increase depending on performance and promotion. there is a ceiling for each grade, and if you dont promote, no increment.

you might be a DX12 for a manager position, a major rank equivalent. myself, im not a DX12. so i cant really comment on salary. but if i were to estimate the range, it would probably be 6-8k? but at this rank, be prepared to work your ass off. MINDEF money not so easy to earn as most would think. each position is optimized to squeeze you dry for the pay you would be getting.

Does anyone in this forum know anything about CEP?

How is the CEP defined? Through a combination of honours class for your degree, psychometric test and whether are you a scholar?

This means you stand a chance in the position you applied for. But firstly, you got to pass your psychometrics test before being shortlisted for an interview

May I know what is usually the starting average salary of a DX9 fresh grad with a second upper honours degree. I applied for a logistic role in MINDEF
