I am 2+ years into audit. My long term goal is to get out of audit and join an accounting team in industry. Am I stupid in thinking of taking a paycut to join as an audit senior again?

I feel underqualified at the same time as I have no hands on experience with accountant responsibilities. I have audit experience only.

Any other suggestions/bashing welcome!
What is smp? Do you have scaq?

Why leave audit to join back audit? Is the market that bad now ?

Why not go back to your old firm so there’s no pay cut ?
Do you feel overqualified to be an auditor ?

What is smp? If you wanna be an accountant, just go straight and be one. You say you dont feel like you can make it as an accountant cause you dont have in house experience so you want to fix it by joining audit?? Does that make sense to you?

I've been an associate before too, of course I chao keng before but not until doing nothing from 9 to 6. Have you seen how bad the attitude of the new batch is? It's nothing like the laziest bum from earlier batches, they just literally outright don't do work.
audit is not my first choice so I don't want to work hard in a job that wasn't what I wanted to do. whatever I do the audit will still be signed anyway so I don't care. funny how you seniors complain that you all are so busy until cannot do our sections, but when push comes to shove you can complete the vouching for us HAHAHA

lol I wish you were the new batch.

They don’t talk like that. No one uses “limpeh” or “kopi” anymore. Old trying to act young.

I'm an audit senior. I feel that I am a lousy audit senior because I struggle to effectively motivate my associates to work. I feel like I'm not doing a good job because I can't get my team to work well. It's hard for me to tell them what I expect, give them helpful feedback, and notice when they do a good job. Also, I'm not very good at being a good role model or making the work environment positive, which makes it tough for everyone to feel motivated.

Should I resign?

As an ACCA member, I am considering relocating to New Zealand to work for five years initially, with the aim of gaining valuable experience before returning to Singapore to join ISCA.

To apply for CA ANZ Membership, ACCA members must fulfill the following criteria:

1. Reside in Australia or New Zealand
2. Hold current full membership in good standing
3. Have accrued a minimum of five years' experience post-admittance to ACCA membership
4. Attained membership through the standard examination pathway, not via a third-party arrangement

ISCA has a Reciprocal Membership Agreement (RMA) with ACCA. By 2030, I anticipate being eligible to join ISCA as a CA under this agreement.

What are your thoughts on this plan?
