As Managers, how you deal with seniors not taking the initiative to perform the work.

Its like project fall on their lap alr but they refuse to take it up further

did old sinkies lived in a technology era?
did old sinkies faced a VUCA world?

no.

Gen z lives in a technology era. We learn more things in school compared to the past. (e.g. module adds in sustainability etc)
The jobs demands more from gen z as compared to the past.
30 years ago, if u have a degree, u will definitely get a good job.
Now? Degree first class local with CCA, leadership, awards also cannot get a decent job.
we face high stress due to high demands from employers and society.
Mental health is also increasingly important in gen z era.
we faced more than the boomers did.

i dont think it is fair by comparing the skin of orange and apple.
compare as a whole. u r a boomer i guess.

Are you still in audit?

If you were in audit since decades ago, you'd know that there is far far far fewer procedures to perform. Work hours is "long" because you have to handwrite on paper and travel to client place (yes, this was included in the calculation back in the days). Also we got paid OT.

Sorry i am Gen Y.

Audit partners ( baby boomers now) / who ever in audit also need to keep up with the changes in SSA/ ISA , and with the recent ISQM , and those sustainability/ Frs115//116 ( in recent years)

So whats the excuse? Those who hit partners level around 2x10 onwards , pretty much already used audit software. Outlook , and claim system

Requirements in this industry are getting stricter and stricter especially if you are a practitioner.

Everyone who in this industry need to keep up with updated auditing rules, accounting standards too like frs115/116/109, isqm and Sgx requirements etc.

What make it different from boomer and genZ?

I am Gen Y.

Hopefully ISCA will continue to rescue this industry and make it appealing toward local GenZ, otherwise, all the future practitioners will be foreigners

Apart from Data Analytics tools , there are not much of difference in term of technology comparing performing audit during 20x0 and now.

These day even better, when most of the firm do not keep hardcopy audit file.

Whoever that in this industry are required to keep up with the requirements and demand of the industry such as changes in the auditing/accounting standards, new isqm/ frs ( that effectives), Sgx requirements.

If genZ do not like this industry, the number of practitioners in the futures will be lesser as the industry is not appealing to GenZ.

Each of the generation have their own fair share of stress and difficulties.

Do not complain later when all the practitioners in the future are foreigner.

Hopefully ISCA can do something

Btw, i am genY

This is just my view toward current GenZ

Having to take SCAQ papers to get the CA title is so stressful.. while my Malaysian colleagues all have ACCA and are already certified CA with ACCA, no degree and started their career at a very young age! I’m so behind my peers and time.. 😥
