Since you want to pivot, why dont you pivot to a more tech savy role like data science, engineering, CS?

That makes more sense rather than traditional banking roles.

I wish I could but I really don't enjoy data sci, coding etc. Any chance to land a role in corporate or commercial banking? What if I do a contract job (compliance/sales etc) for 1 year and take a CFA?

If I'm not wrong, IBD requires FCH with extraordinary CCAs. Second lower honours, be it law or whatever, would automatically disqualify him already. Additionally, the lad wouldn't even know financial modelling or have a good grasp of finance given his non finance background.

You're an alumni? Sounds like ******** given your advice is so ignorant.

Of course you're gonna be able to land jobs in corporate / retail / private banking. I suggest you stop listening to these idiots.

Wrong, you don't need FCH to get into IB. I graduated with a fringe 2nd upper in political science and got into IB just fine. The financial modelling involved in an IB analyst's work is so rudimentary even secondary school kids can do it. The fact that you think not having a finance background disqualifies you shows your ignorance.

To OP, stop listening to these idiots and connect with professionals on linkedin who are working in the positions that you're coveting. Get linkedin premium and you'll see NUS/NTU econs grads in a whole host of vocations. You're not limited by your major nor are you disadvantaged in securing jobs in finance compared to B&F graduates.

I'm very interested in your situation, why would a Law graduate be looking to banking ops roles? Ops is so mind numbing. Surely your prospects are better than this?

Wake the fk up. If you are in BB/EB IBD, you NEED to have financial knowledge (if that’s not from your major, then it has to be displayed in your past internships/extracurricular courses/relevant comps).

Not saying a pol sci or econ major can’t make it into IBD str from undergrad, but you need to be the top 1% and differentiate yourself like just like everyone else.
