It was more casual during the walkabout as they had already interviewed prior to the walkabout

You overlooked an important factor. Everyone can work but not everyone can teach; and those who are led to teaching will know who they are and why they want to go into teaching

Yes, this is particularly true. Thank you for highlighting this out, indeed many would assume people who goes into teaching are just there for the sake of a job - it's more than that.

depend on field

in house project drive by management
project driven by industrial collaboration departments (for eg tech development)
or industrial projects. which can be cross departments ie multidisciplinary

dont listen to some of the bad mouthers here. it's a decent job and nice environment and u get to help students
