It is known in the industry for decades that ST can't pay well especially for IT job.
You mean they can match industry pay now?

The best time to leave is after a project cycle. Which is probably about 3-5 years depending on project complexity.
The reasoning is so that you can talk about your experiences instead of talking about your lousy academic results that limited your choices in the first place.
If you can't even talk decently about skillsets and experience you learned on the job... well then I think the best time to leave STE is when it's time for you to retire.

With a degree, you can own all those diploma holders, with master degree, you own all the bachelor's degree holders. Who cares about your experience?

Academic certificates don't work like army ranks. Getting a masters after your main career in SAF still doesn't make you anywhere better than a professional who spent decades perfecting his craft. Can only bully naive low tier fresh grads.

STE full of ppl that lurking just to farm and retire. Not a great place to hone skills and climb. There will be managers that are moonlighting and have their own business, only good at taichi and farming.

Totally agree. I remembered that 10 years ago when i first joined, i wanted to leave after a few days. The people there really jiak liao bee and cmi. The level of knowledge for those "managers" can make you vomit blood. I even doubted my own knowledge at some point. Definitely not a starting place for fresh graduates because the tendency of the people there transferring you a wrong knowledge is high. I always asked my managers or seniors why things were done this way or that way, many times the answer is "oh, last time do in such a way until now".. Don't even have an explanation of why, apparently, no one knows.
10 years now, i thought things might have changed. However, i encountered someone who stayed there for 10 years plus left and joined my company, i am damn shock of that person quality of work and managing of work. So my conclusion is, never ever stay there for too long. Move on to other places and the chances of you learning the correct things are higher. If not, 10-20 years later when you joined another place, you may not perform.
