just curious, why did u start working so late?
Opps, sorry, typo error, I actually have 4.5 years of experience.

But am I really seriously underpaid? My degree is in Business Admin/Mgmt; now doing office work, 5-day work week. My salary, after deduct CPF is 2.5K. Overall salary before CPF deduction is 3.1K. I am now looking to jump ship and ask for at least 3.3.

I just recently went to an interview and the HR interveiwer (non-govt private sector) said that I am being overpaid above the market rate.

If I were you, I would take whatever people said here with a pinch of salt. Everyone seems to be doing really well here. There are hardly any people who don't earn big bucks in this forum.

My guess is your pay is probably about on-par with market rate (HR always say the same thing when it comes to salary negotiation). My advice is to go for a few more interview and you should be able to roughly gauge how much you're worth.

I also bought (not shared, my own money) a 1 bedroom condo in D21 in 2009 for my parents to live in. They have always wanted to live in a condo to enjoy the luxurious lifestyle that a condo offers. I have also fully paid up for this condo as I bought it very cheap due to the global financial crisis.

Now all my family members live in condos. We are proud of our achievements, esp compared to our relatives. We used to be poor and looked down upon and now people look up to us.

I am very happy with our system which allows poor but hardworking citizens like myself to excel in life. From being poor to owning two fully paid up condos is a big achievement to people like me. I am also now a millionaire.

Are u from local or pte uni? Either way I think u are under paid. I was from pte uni, was getting $4k after 4 years, took an overseas posting for $250k in my 5th year, getting about $100k now in my 8th year.

Helps if you mentioned the industry you're, department, nature of your job etc.

For example in banking contract staff as analyst start on average about 3K, something you can consider doing only if you have relevant skill sets i.e dealing with general accounts etc.

More information garners better advise.

Why not upgrade yourself? Take a Masters degree or a PHD?
