A 3rd year engineer earns less than one-third of that. Engineering is a sh1thole.

as a 3rd year engineer, I only getting 55k per annum....
AND by the time I retired as an engineer at age 64/65, I dunno I can hit even 130K/annum??

You still got chance, my engineering manager hits 120k, but he is aleady in 50s, and handles 40 staff...

You will be driving a taxi in your 40s. Yes, your FT passenger can hit 130k.

Most sales people half his age, including credit card peddlers and even bank telemarketers, already earn more than 120k.
Give up on being technical lah. It's the sales and finance (requiring only simple maths) that make the most money.

How many hours do you guy work per week?
125k base = abt 10k basic per month
do you mean doesnt get "ask to leave" = bonus??

Unfortunately, due to weak markets, most ib are not making much in equities and are downsizing. Equity research is usually 1st to get the axe as being non revenue generating
Look at rbs, they are selling off equities business to cimb.
Only bright spot in equities is prime brokerage.
Other business is still okay like fx, rates and commodities - bonus is still decent but not 2-3yrs of base in pre financial crisis
