Default Iras

Hi, can someone please kindly advise. I have been offered a senior manager role (IS Grade 9) with IRAS. May I know how does the grading works? I saw some manager also having grade 9. Also, how does the annual increment and PB looks like in IRAS? Thank you!

Anyone mid service managed to successfully negotiate a salary increase? M31 here. In stat board for 6 years. Scholar, masters, hipo program, 5 rating 3 yrs in a row, lots of staffing and CCA duties.

Feel like I'm earning a lot lesser for my role (tech related) compared to my peers at the same age. Honestly think I can jump ship to private for much higher salary, but I prefer the stability and work life of the civil service. Anyone got experience?

Not a chance. Can only quit and rejoin after a few years.

that the common thing about civil service. peers in private sector will out earn you during your mid careers. thats what happens to most of us and myself included. thats where you need to consider your path ahead. what is more heartaching is when their job scopes and workload is much less than youself. thats where you feel more angsty.

but to answer your question, dont think you can nego mid service. either you gun for a promotion or jump to other civil services.

If you’re ambitious, go private.

If you prefer stability, live with the lower pay.
