I am not OP but my wife (32yo) did a similar move from banking into a SB 2 years ago. Total comp was the same (140+k) but she laments a lot about the lost of medical benefits. In her (foreign) bank, there is 0% increment unless promoted or on exceptional basis whereas in her current role she gets ~5-6% steady increment until ceiling for her grade. So it is not true private sector increment in higher (she's making slightly above 160k now).

Her main reason for going public sector is quite standard i.e. work life balance (no OT), stability (no offshoring/anyhow restructuring).

Ok so what I gathered so far (in this forum/peers and myself) is a guage of total comp:

~100k for late twenties

~150k for mid thirties

Is it around 200k in late thirties to forties? Or it stagnates around 150k for farmers?

Most farmers should max out at mx10, giving a total comps of ~180k spending on performance..

These numbers sound pretty good considering average farmers in public sector.

I was offered 140+k in late 30s, feel very sad now cos its so low compared to others younger. And I'm lmaking 160k in private.. Seems like better to switch by mid 30s

This seems on the high side for average performers.

Agree with you this seems high for average performer, I am pretty sure those are non-scholar, but not likely to be just average, but tier 2, which tier 1 is for scholar.

I’mgetting about 10-20% increment every year in private sector. Was thinking to hit till a certain pa range (~240k) before jumping into stats board which provide that assurance like what op mention (stability, adhoc restructuring, etc). Hopefully by late 30’s.
But just concern that by then, those available positions that offer the pa range is reserved mainly for scholar, etc.

by that time, they wont hire you unless you have a very significant skillset or know someone inside
