However most of my seniors that graduated this year are drawing 4-5k from stat boards like LTA, PUB, HDB (2nd upper and above).

Does this mean they are placed in the MX12 scheme? I heard it is very rare but possible. Has the salary range for MX13 scheme been bumped up or am I missing something here?

appreciate any inputs

**The seniors that I mentioned graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from ntu and they are not scholars.
I don't think they are MX scheme...usually MX is applicable to civil service.

stat boards are not civil service but public service. their pay scheme might not be same depending on the specific role.

oh hahaha that explains. Are there any schemes in the public service analogous to the MX scheme in civil service?

Yes there are. In fact, all the schemes across the public service, including the uniformed ones, can be pegged to the MX numbering system. Within ourselves, we always fall back to this number for reference. Like, this guy is 11A, that Dir is a 9, her CEP is 7, and so on. Can even be pegged to DSP, Supt, LTC, Maj. I think it has become second nature to people in the service. haha.

hahahaa I'm confused. So for stat boards, even though public service and not civil service, the MX scheme still applies but with a different salary range?

no lah, the stat boards take reference from the MX scheme but likely only generalist scheme will have some equivalency to MX scheme. even then there are differences between the stat boards - definitely not true that all stat boards will have an equivalent MX scheme although some will.

there are a lot of other specialist schemes in the stat boards e.g. engineers are on their own scheme - no way they are on the same MX scheme when their starting pay is significantly different from other fresh grads

I am not sure why u are still confused, haha.

Stat Boards have their own schemes. Many do not use MX schemes.

all public service agencies should have an equivalent MX scheme for pegging purpose.

Do u know of any exception?

You can take it as a reference. Neither all private sector companies is offering higher than public sector nor is the public sector offering higher than private sector.

It ultimately boils down to your experiences. How do you expect an employer to offer you high salary when you got zero experience or if you’re a fresh grad regardless of private or public sector?
Thanks for sharing. Can we get more valuable contributions like this instead of people trolling around... zzz

Yes, this is correct. Fundamentally, there is the normal timescale and super-scale.
