Cool Be realistic

The higher you get when economy down turn you are the first to go.

Do your own business is the most secure rather then asking how much others willing to pay you.

How much can you earn for your company?

Recently I was speaking to a recruiter who told me that she has placed candidates in individual-contributor SE roles at S$200K base. This seems like an astronomically high figure - anyone knows people who are making this much? She has no reason to lie, but I just wanted to know if it takes to reach these numbers (or what the typical figures for SEs in tech companies are).

Likely foreign companies, like Google Facebook paying US pegged salaries. I won't be surprised if a 4 year experienced senior dev makes 15 to 20k a month. They're already playing 7k a month for fresh grad

Being an SE with that pay in Singapore is more difficult then being an IB analyst. Dont be jealous idiot, nobody pays you for free lunch.

Wow, I'm surprised they would pay US-pegged salaries here, given that average tech salaries here are significantly lower than the US.

If you're in a software engineering role in prop trading firm or hedge fund, it's possible.

That is only half the salary in US. You can earn 350k USD at FANG companies for senior engineer. I am talking abouy median here. Top will be 450k+ USD.

The problem with aggregated data and "large sample sizes" is that they don't take into account time differential. Reviewers like on Glassdoor only post salaries once maybe 2 years and are done. Past data is not indicative of future results.

When it comes to CS salaries for fresh grads in 2019, 6k is starting to feel low for the top 75th percentile (assuming you're not a bad programmer with min 1 year internship exp). I believe CS salaries in a sense, follows Moore's law way more than traditional salaries. For those that say we can't match IB salaries etc, you probably need a more recent survey. There's so much potential and application for Computer Science that could be applied to just about every industry.
