I take home $20K, my wife takes home $10K, and we have a combined net worth of $3M.

We are quite happy to achieve this in our 30s, but don't feel rich either. Need $9M to $10M net worth to feel rich.

My wife and I are in our early fifties. We don't earn so much, only a total of $150k pa. In 2005, we sold our flat and upgraded to a resale condo which we bought for only $600k. We used the sales proceeds of selling our flat to pay as down payment for the condo. We took a small mortgage and paid the loan off last year. We are happy with our achievement so far since we are now debt free.

We will continue to work hard to prepare for retirement. We are saving $50k pa. When we retire, we will sell our big condo and buy a small studio condo for the two of us. We will find a condo near an MRT station and shopping amenities so that we can give up our car and will stop employing a maid.

Really got many big cannon fairy here.

If really earn that much, they wont be coming here liao, enjoying life or working even harder to achieve more. Only those paid lowly ones will come here to big cannon fairy to make themselves better.

Realistically, maybe one or two cases of millionaire are real, the rest, big cannon fairy la. If you think about it, if you are really that rich (millionaire in 20s to early 30s) and earning 10K per month, will you be here? the answer is no, because you wont have time to come here as you will be busy earning money, like sales or high ranking position in banks or doctor.

So dont trust too much on the info in this forum. (My uncle is really rich, so I roughly know his schedule, he practically have no time to relax only except on Sunday to accompany his family for outing or when he take overseas leave).

Of course, I am envy of those who earn more than 10K in their early 30s or become a millionaire in their 20s or 30s, but some of them just dont seems realistic

This is true. If you're good and in senior management, you should be getting at least $30k pm. If not, you're considered lousy. This is reality.

If you don't have any independents, you can retire at any time in JB. You can rent out your condo for $3k pm and when you convert to RM, you get RM9k. You don't need much for a retired couple in JB.

1. Rent a 3 bedroom brand new condo in JB - RM1.5k pm.
2. Instalment for a used local made car - RM500 pm
3. Petrol and other expenses RM500 pm
4. Groceries and food and utilities RM1k pm
5. Entertainment & misc - RM1k pm

Total expenses RM4.5k pm
Savings RM4.5k pm
