With strong replacement demand, it will not be surprising for Cat A to reach $75k it higher after July 2015. So, with demand exceeding supply, prices will have to rise. If you get your COE now at $70k, you're lucky.

Despite the HUGE increase in COE supply, Cat A still closed HIGHER at $68,589.
Demand (2891 bids) is so much HIGHER than supply (1444 COEs).
Replacement demand is very strong plus there is additional demand from new buyers.
With this, Cat A will likely rise further to surpass $70,000 in the 2nd May 2015 bidding as those at the sidelines who were "waiting and seeing" now realise that COE prices will not fall any more but continue to rise further as DEMAND is very STRONG.
At $70k, this is is still cheaper than the expected $100k or higher in 2019. So, those whose car going to expire in 2019 will want to change to new cars NOW rather than in 2019 or later.
Those who got their COEs today are lucky.

Paying $68,589 COE is actually cheap as this is for 10 YEARS. So every day you are paying only $18.80 for the COE. You can easily save this amount if you:
1. Stop smoking. You can save $20 or more per day.
2. Stop gambling. You can $20 or more per day.
3. Stop drinking. You can save $50 or more per day.
4. Stop womanising. You can save $60 or more per day.

If you can't afford the current cheap COE, it is best you don't own a car. Can opt for public transport.
