Instead of trying to keep up with the kiasu Aunties and Uncles, we should focus on ourselves and our own goals, you know what I mean? Maybe you want to travel the world, or start a hawker stall, or buy a nice car. Whatever it is, you should be working towards your own dreams and not trying to impress other people.
Because here's the thing, lah: money is not everything. Sure, it's important, but it's not everything lah. You can still be happy and fulfilled even if you're not making a six-figure salary. You can have meaningful relationships, pursue your passions, and make a difference in the world, no matter what your bank account looks like.
So, instead of getting caught up in the rat race of comparing salaries and job titles, let's focus on ourselves and what makes us happy, okay? Let's set our own goals and work towards them, regardless of what others might think. Let's build the lives we want to live and not worry about impressing anyone else.
In short, don't be a kiasu Singaporean lah. Let's be our own boss and not let money control our lives. Who's with me? Chope your spot in the comments below!

You are right. Money is not everything. That’s why I’m retiring at 55 yo. Will be selling my condo and downgrade to a HDB flat. Will have cash of $600k to last me for 10 years of retirement from 55 to 65. At 65, I have my CPF Life. Life is short.

You need to earn 100k per month then only can retire at 40.
I know pornstar can draw such salary. Trading need huge capital and there is risk. Property and insurance i not sure. If you have 50 houses or some lands to sell then not an issue.

To retire at 55 means you have achieved the SG dream. Only a small fraction of the population is able to do this as the vast majority needs to work and save until 65. You have a valuable asset (your condo) which you’re able to monetise. Retiring in a HDB flat has many benefits and costs less too. Enjoy your well deserved retirement! You earned it!

My 3 bedroom luxury condominium unit is fully paid up and I am debt free.
My CPF Life and condo are my retirement assets.
Although I’m not rich, I consider myself lucky and successful in life.
Time for me to relax next year. I’ve been working so hard for a long time.

Honestly, is this just one guy who keeps posting variants of 'retiring soon'? The language is always the same, lol. What do you gain from this?

Good retirement plan. Retirement is all about lifestyle. If you need $200k pa to retire, then you will never retire. You have a luxury condo which you can monetise if you need to. $30k pa is actually quite a lot for a retiree who is debt free. Food and utilities should not cost too much for a single person. Unless you eat at restaurants frequently.
