MNCs

My network of friends are all making good income in MNCs, close to 100k/yr. We are biligual and graduated from top schools and good unis. And we don't work in SMEs. But I'm aware that most SMEs don't pay well- I have friends whose parents are business owners like yourself.

I have worked for govt as well as MNCs (and i mean real big ones). The pay is by no way close to some of the figures that ppl are listing in this forum. There's lot of boasting going around here obviously. People know but I guess they just can't be bothered. I can tell u 90% of the figures mentioned here are inflated - a non AO schemer getting 70k after 2-3 years, foriegn houser drawing $100k at 24. I was alerted by a friend to come to this forum topic and I had a good laugh with such figures. To end it off, let me have my own ego boosting moment - I am 21 drawing $500k per month. VB stands at 200% of my annual package. I am a member of Mensa with IQ close to 121. I write columns for a well known british paper, a hobby of mine. :-P

In my third year, I joined an IT startup and earned 72k a year. Then things came crashing down a while later.

Those "inflated rates" exists.
I'm 27 years old, drawing around 4.2k...I think it's reasonable for my background.
I do have friends getting 90k per annum their age is mid to late 20s. I think they didn't inflate their salary because they don't have a reason to, and based on their lifestyles...not hard to believe. Jetsetting to exotic places every two months, branded goods and expensive watches...

limited career progression
28 yr old, Manager in a MNC with 3 years exp, 1st class honours from local Uni. Drawing 6k/mth. Could have more exp and higher salary without army.
Colleagues from Philippines and India working in the same company in Singapore drawing the same salary are only in their early twenties. Ironically, it's not that they are more capable. The landscape in the company and policies in Singapore faciliate their successes.
Currently, planning parttime MBA for career switch into finance.

If you are doing infrastructure, try to get into a bank, a local one first, then a foreign one. A colleague of mine ( ITE + poly) is getting $150k managing infrastructure.
