Sponsored training
Colleagues
Professional identity and esteem.
Education and mentorship if u keen
Paternity /paternity benefits

It's a supply and demand outside.
Barrier of entry is super low.
Aesthetic is not the magical place to work.
It's tough work and super competitive becuase anyone can do a coc
Buy a laser , attend a weekend demo and start offering liao.
U go see turnover of aesthetic clinic
New one pop up every 1 to 2 years while other died after a while.
5k can buy a second hand machine
30k got swanky clinic for u to take over.

Outside GP rumeration also just spike up this 1 to 2 years.
Is it sustainable for chains to offer such good rates no one knows.
Afte a while, all this hot startup like DA with dry out venture funds start to close shop
I dunno what will happen to all this young bond breakers.
Maybe a doomsday scenario
Maybe not.

In the meantime the public service doctor sheltered from all this.

In investing u decide u want buy steady blue chips and Huat like warren buffet way of slow and steady
Or u want go crypto way. Jump into the hot fav with hot money..and then hope u cash out before it all come crashing down
So compared to your peers in private/aesthetics (I am sure you have friends outside in gp land), do you earn more than them now after spending so long in public sector, with all the relevant qualifications? (I.e is your net worth similar to them?)

what is the point of your question? - to quote chan chun seng
U mean u go compare ur networth with your friends? for what? to gain a superiority complex?

I think i'm middle of the pack. 1 guy owns 6 clinic. He basically go cover them when his doctors take MC, i estimate he makes maybe 10-15K profit each clinic and quite eng, so go figure.
One guy work 8-2 as a hired GP. Lots of free time to do his volunteer work in church. Heard he starting bible college soon

I dont have any closer friend doing aesthetics. 2 girls i sorta know go back to doing regular GP work after a while. Someone's someone hearsay i know make $30K per month , but she is pretty glam looking to begin with so maybe that's a selling point. Me old , balding with a beer belly cant attract that kind of money, unless i am an accredited plastic surgeon i guess.

financially wise i'm ok i think.
I had save and invest regularly over the years.
HDB paid , 1 condo rent out and have regular dividends from stocks.
essentially, i don't have to worry about money. Cannot buy GCB , but go europe during shopping wife want that 5K channel bag is ok although i discourage that.

I still drink kopi tiam coffee , same as 20 years ago when i was a poor student. I take MRT to work , same as when i was a poor student

Well, purpose is to see if one is being lowballed in terms of pay lo.
I mean if you only earn 200k a year, but all your peers outside doing gp work earn 400k/year, (not saying that private gps earn 400k, just quoting a hypothetical scenario), shouldn't you reflect and consider your career choice/place of practice?

This is applicable to all industries not just medicine, always need to compare pay to the Market rate based on your ability of course. (Even football players in England who earn 200k/week are unhappy and choose to leave for another team who pays 300k per week lol)

Unfortunately life is always about comparison (education, pay, net worth, social status, even partners)- even primary school students compare with their peers for grades! (At least during my time)

Regarding your point about wife/partners, why do you think divorce and cheating is so common among couples? (I am sure many people in Singapore compare and discuss about their partners when they meet up with their close friends..)

Again
What's the point of Ur comparison.
My point is I'm happy.

U can forever compare upwards

Some Ite grad sold his software company for 200 million right?
Then every tech grad from famous nus will need to die from envy liao

Why do I need to reflect if I can earn more elsewhere?
