What is the routine like for HO in singapore ? Do they only do discharge summaries or do they also help see sick patients and review patients daily ? How much senior support do they get and are there much learning opportunities ? In terms of annual leave how many days do they get ? Can they request it to be on particular days and can those be taken for say a period of 2 weeks ? Thank you for answering those questions!

Assuming I have 5 to 6 calls a month, I would be getting an extra of $600 to $700 a month on top of the $3.3k, right?

If that is the case, the pay for a houseman is really quite low roughly around $4k SGD.

May I ask what's the pay for a 1st year MO?
HO basic is 3.6k, with calls your all-in is about 4.2k. No PB, only 13 month after completion of HO.

MO basic starts from 4.5k, ~16-17 month package. on-call allowance significantly higher than HO too.

Keep in mind these figures are before you pay CPF and taxes. Once those are deducted u r left with arnd 2.8 (about 3.2-3.4 with calls) for HOs and 3.6 (about 4.5 with calls) for MOs. MO call pay is double HOs

So the call pay is actually quite significant.

Is it possible then for a 1st year MO to have a monthly salary close to 6k?

Default Cardio associate consultant

Hi, got MRCP in 2011, and I'm thinking of moving from UK to Singapore. Interested in cardio AC position. Can someone advise on the workload and renumeration, and whether research is expected? Thanks

Sorry, I think it's highly unlikely you'll even be able to work as a doctor in Singapore, let alone take a cardio AC position. Firstly, there's a stable supply of local doctors with the 3 medical schools and there has (and will continue to be) a significant reduction in overseas doctors. Secondly, with the shift in focus to primary care, there will be even fewer specialist positions - good luck competing with local doctors who've studied and trained here for >10 years.

Please apply if you find vacancies advertised. Singapore needs the best docs it can find. AC cardio renumeration is around gross 150000 SGD

Is there a rough guide on the salary range of registrar, associate consultant, consultant etc?
Does it make a major difference if you're working in a polyclinic or in a hospital?

Agreed. MOHH policy has always been to recruit FT doctors from third world countries (who can't qualify to work in more developed countries) in order to keep public healthcare expenditure low. Consequently there is now an oversupply of SG/FT doctors in Singapore leading to increased competition for all residency positions.
