Have anyone been following the healthier sg webinars from the college of family physician? (Started last Tuesday)
I am been listening but is just wondering a few things.
A) seems that the enrollment fee can only be paid to one clinic. Which means that if a PT wants to change gp, why would one as the 2nd doctor accept the PT?

B) it appears that the maximum that the Dr can claim for one PT is 300 dollars per year. This is presuming that he is a complex case (more than 1 chronic disease), and that all the relevant things are done. (4 visits a year, panel test, drp/DFS, age appropriate screening under sfl etc)
- I am just trying to contextualise, how much is 300 dollars/PT/year worth to a GP clinic? I personally went for health screening package recently. Only did blood test and height/weight, already cost me 90 dollars. (That is just one visit)

I am just thinking how can a GP turn this healthier sg initiative into something profitable?

I forsee more people will want to be locum rather than anchors. I mean who would want to take on this additional responsibility and admin work?

U can also charge patient a consult fee on top of it
Eg 22 bucks.
This makes one consult 100 bucks.

But a lot of work la to handle chronic disease.
See one urti 60 bucks easier. Probably can see 3 urti in the time to handle 1 chronic
Or like really simple htn and hld.
Anything complicated ah, sorry u go polyclinic.


It wouldn't move a needle la.
They don't realise patient like ops becuase other than chronic meds
Ur standby meds like ketotop, DMP, cetirizine all cheaper

Are the meds in OPS still priced per week of supply rather than number of tablets?

Eg Rosuvastatin 5mg on is same price as Rosuvastatin 10mg on?

What's it now? $7 per 1 week of the med? Or gone up?

Unless u take overnight 12 hours shift at those 24 hour clinic
Or be the India Indian doctor I knew who did Changi a&e 12 hour shift 28 days a months

1 day u squeeze 11 to 12 hours max as locum.
1 week also 84 hours max.
do 4 weeks probably burnt out liao.

U just a famer and Ur average annual is 250k becuase toward the end of your career u likely making close to 300k
That's 7 million life time earnings.

U can try to chiong locum very high intensity.
Let's say u can really do 80 hours a week , at 100 an hour
That's 32k a month or 360k a year.
Assume u very good and chiong for 10 years. That's only 3.6 millio
Then for the next 18 years u settle down into a normal GP job that gives u 180k a year
That's another 3.2 mil
Overall still lose to the farmer.
Farmer also have time to find a wife, get married, 30 days annual leave and what not.

Yada u gonna say u will invest the 3.6 million earlier and blar blar so overall u will come out tops.
Trust me ah, when u make 30k a month, u will spend more one.
All the more when u work so hard for money, u want to enjoy.
And given Ur impetuous nature, u likely to anyhow invest

i am not spending more with more earning, but since i became a consultant, i am so much more busier that i have stopped investing. my investment income dipped so much. thinking of going part time or a career break.
