This is shocking. I will write to SMC to complain. Search up all the male drs who are of the age to be SAFMOs. Report them to SAF andSMC if you meet them at GP clinic.
All COs should demand that MOs submit their IRAS returns. If is more than NSFMO salary then you know they moonlight. Charge them. If they dont declare then is tax evasion.

Agree. SMC should take action and stop these. A law is a law. so what if they are doctors? they are still nsf men. Especially with the current covid period, both NSF and SMC should see to this not happening.

The moonlight law applies to all. My 3sg used to moonlight as a waiter. I closed two eyes.
Many a level nsf moonlight as tuition teacher.

For doctor nsf
However nsf allowance is so low that they will not be able to service their tuition loan

In between the risk of default vs breaching rules, many chose the latter

From smc perspective as long as u are full registration, u can practise independently. So the burma doc who has twenty years of exp that just came to Singapore cannot practise independently but the baby mo can!

From moh perspective, as long as you don't touch intermediate and long term care, you can practise at different sites.

If Burma doctor can work in Singapore without restrictions, then what is the value of being a Singapore citizen? Might as well give birth in Burma and attend med school there (with lower tuition fees) before coming to Singapore to work and get same pay as local doctor.

I also agree SMC should not condone NSF baby MOs who willingly and dishonestly breach SAF rules against locuming as it reeks of professional misconduct.

It has nothing to do with citizenship.

Even a Singapore citizen who has graduated and practiced medicine in Australia/US/Canada for 20 years cannot practice independently when first returning to Singapore.
