What happens when you backed out of a signed offer from law firms/in-house platforms? Sometimes it is a difficult situation to make and we don’t really have a choice. What is the right way to deal with this and what are some of the consequences? Is this common?

I am currently a LLB at SUSS. Just wondering if firms will give me a TC if I am looking at doing transactional work?

I encourage all SUSS grads to aim high. The supreme court should accept SUSS grads as JLCs and in the years to come i hope to see criminal SCs from our premier criminal law uni!

So you're another one of those who lied to get into suss? Passion for community law and all

anyone in big 4 facing the same problem?

no mentorship

3 PQE here in litigation but firm has never had any scheme to help me build a practice, client business development

all day day in day out is just draft and review documents and do heavy lifting

then the partners will be doing the scolding when things don’t go their way

and when juniors leave, new batch just comes in and repeat

where’s the prize in this industry?

Lol, that was only the government's initial hope, they shelved the idea for SUSS grads to only be crim or community lawyers.

SUSS does not need you to be passionate in community/criminal law at all to get in.

Don't be a a-hole dude.

Exclamation

Are there any lawyer jobs where one works normal hours, maybe something close to 8-6? Or less? I don’t know how much longer I can be putting in 12-16 hour days. It’s affecting my relationship with my wife and kids, and my mental health. And there’s no time for house chores, errands, or just focusing on things I want to do like work out or read books. Thanks in advance.

it's egregious because SUSS was set up precisely to fill the void and provide a cheap local option for law studies. I'm fairly positive the majority of interviewees played up their passion for community law for a slot in SUSS

If you cmi to NUS or SMU but really want to be a lawyer, the honourable route is to use daddy's money to study in an overseas scheduled uni. Not exploit a backdoor route meant for a specific policy purpose.
