The reverse situation is illuminating. Consider:

“I am hiring partner in CC/MoFo/AO. Will only hire from Oxbridge or ivy League, first class honours. Won’t settle for anything less”

Yeah I think this year had 697 Part B candidates, and 450+ are getting called in the mass call. But we must also remember alot of the Part B candidates would be streamed in from Part A (where failure rate is high), so they probably already did their TC before Part B and could be privately called. Add in those people who took gap semesters etc and would get called earlier/later, and I guess the numbers make sense.

The Part B pass rate is quite high (almost 99% after retests), so I do not believe it is indicative of the failure rate.

Indeed. If getting in is so important, you may wish to try other roles. Law clerk or paralegal can be considered

Junior Assoc in small mid-sized firm, with salary at the lower-end of mid-sized firm. no bonus.

Almost a year since being called. Took a break from practice, before starting practice in Jan.

Severely understaffed doing literally numerous types of liti and general corp. Literally no administrative support, no secretaries or trainees.

Realised liti is not really my cup of tea.

Seriously thinking of moving into a corporate associate position in a larger firm, in-house or otherwise non-law roles.

Thoughts about resigning before finding new role?

Would it be better to resign only after finding a new job?

Better to resign first. Take some time out.
Rushing into a new role (for face) or trying to compete with peers to be in a brand name firm will just make things worse

I can't help but wonder if the smiley emoji is encouragement or sarcasm.

If one has to wonder abt this, one deserves not to step foot into MC/WS firms
