has Nus Law abolished the tradition of issuing the top 50% letter bc of covid, or is it issued later?

Severely understaffed doing literally numerous types of liti and general corp. Literally no administrative support, no secretaries or trainees.
Realised liti is not really my cup of tea.
Seriously thinking of moving into a corporate associate position in a larger firm, in-house or otherwise non-law roles.
Thoughts about resigning before finding new role?
Would it be better to resign only after finding a new job?

It would be good for you to consider what you enjoy about the job of lawyering and what you don't. If you hate litigation but you do like the law, then by all means switch to corp, but just know it will suck too for other reasons.

Dumb and pointless practice imo.
Many moons ago as a fresh faced young law student i would wait with trepidation every summer hol for the 50% letter with NUS letterhead in the mailbox just for the barest of assurance that I'm on track not to be consigned to a Chinatown TC. Thankfully received it almost every year.
No point when subpar UK unis are handing out Firsts like candy and making their second rate students look good. The artificial downward pressure on grades that NUS forces on its students does them a great disservice

Who the fk cares about the 50% letter LMAO you just have to not be braindead to get it. Has anyone ever put "top 50%" on their resume?? Dean's list letter is the only one that matters

True although the bottom 50% of NUS is probably the top 20% of some subpar UK uni like Warwick or Bristol

Any discussion about standards is just conjecture. The market doesn’t care about this shot - the industry will let you know whether you’re better than a person from a “subpar uni” or not.
Sick of people whining about foreign grads stealing jobs.

eh, i think you guys are missing the point. imagine a Peking or Tsinghua grad saying UK unis are crap - the bottom 50% of Peking/Tsinghua is probably the top 1% of some subpar UK uni like Warwick or Bristol. It's entirely missing the point lol.
For the purposes of employment what matters is the employers' perception of the university.
