Like a feeling that the decks are stacked against overseas grad?
You’re just inviting for trolls to attack you on this forum, as can be seen from the past 1000 pages. Not sure if this is a lead on question for yet another booster on why “NUS is the best”.

Not sure if troll but I'll take the bait anw lmao.

Unless you studied in Oxbridge or LSE, you have no right to feel like a "successful person" for studying law overseas. The fact that you did not study in NUS or SMU means that you are already intellectually worse than 50% of the law aspirant cohort of your batch, since these 2 schools are more competitive than other foreign law schools on the scheduled list sans Oxbridge.

As a matter of fact, your default state should be to feel like a "failure" and work your way upwards from there.

Thank you for knocking some sense into me. But I still feel very upset.
Because of the money involved and I don’t know when I can ever pay back my parents

Question

How many productive hours do y'all think lawyers put in everyday? Everyone talks about the crazy hours but it doesn't seem possibly to be productive for such a long duration?

That may be what the above posters mean.

Some departments/teams are really that profitable.
It's ridiculous to take credit for the entire team's billings like that though. It's just revenue, doesn't take into account costs / overhead. Very boomer to take credit for your employees' work - "my" billings, "your costs"

Im probably gonna get laughed out of the forum but... i went to a non oxbridge foreign uni. The truth is that i'm still in a much better off position than if i had taken Econs in NUS/NTU, which was my backup.

OP shouldn't feel bad about his foreign degree.

It's about making the best of what you have. If you only apply to certain prestigious firms and totally discount smaller reputable ones, you do yourself a great disservice.

Get one foot in the door first, then be tenacious enough to move up thereafter. Many of my classmates/seniors/friends have done it. It's not impossible.
