Lmao this discussion is lame. Only students give a damn about the commendation list, as if the fact that these individuals which happen to be from the same school as you somehow reflect your own capabilitues. The percentage of students "representing" certain schools shift year by year anyway.

Private practice cares about your ability to do the work and get clients, nothing else.

Can we get back to salaries please?

Then why you never share where you are working, your PQE and your salary?

I am a 1.5PQE (called in 2018) in a B4, just got offered 15K PM to join a MC firm as a NQ assoc. Was excited at first but has gotten more apprehensive now that I have some time to think about it. Tbh, as a 1.5PQE, i feel like I still don't know a lot about the practice to be worth 15K pm lol.

Was wondering if the ppl here who lateraled out to intl firms did so at what stage of their PQE? And if there is anyone here who lateraled out at an equivalent PQE (1.5 to 2.5), what advice could you give me?

Go for it mate. I jumped to an MC (probably the same firm you're going to - only one MC pays 14+ for NQs) at around the same time last year (I'm 2017 called). Honestly, you won't feel inadequate at all - the big4 generally provide good training. I personally experienced a culture shock as everyone at the firm is exceedingly friendly and willing to help. You wont hear any shouting or screaming (unlike in some of the big4 teams) here!

Plus your annual package will be the same as a big4 JP heh.

can anyone provide the latest figures for NQ/1/2PQE at bakers? Is it still considerably higher than B4?

Default In house

Hi, I am a 2.5 PQE litigation lawyer in a big 4 firm thinking of going in house. Does anyone here have advice on:

- when you should make the move in house. I'm not sure if I am still too junior to make the move and if it would be worth sticking it out in practice for longer.

- what kind of company would be good to work for in your view and why. I'm hoping to find a job which offers work life balance. Not sure if places like banks will be able to offer that.

- how much of a pay cut to expect when going in house. I understand there will be a pay cut for most people.

- if anyone has made the move from litigation to in house, do you regret the move?

Thanks in advance.

If anyone has advice on how to get through practice when you feel drained / burned out, I'd appreciate that advice too (:
