The metric by which UK universities accept students for undergrad courses is by assessing whether the student will be able to get a 2:1 at the end of his course. The ones who get a 2:2 are students who were assessed to be capable of getting a 2:1, but for some reason, did not. It this stands to reason that they have a higher rate of 2:1 and 1st class graduates.
Actually it doesn’t matter.

Overseas graduates earn more if they start off in Magic Circle / White Shoe law firms

Burn evenings, burn weekends, never get to see family. It's a dog's life - I got out early, switched careers, much happier. At least I don't dread going to work now.

Hi all,

just wishing to gauge general expectations - if you are a 2PQE (left practice at 1PQE with 1 years worth of in-house experience), what would your expected remuneration package be like?

Assume for the above discussion that your company is able to pay.

This is a UK article
s://.legalcheek.com/2017/02/law-is-the-hardest-degree-to-get-a-first-in/

Law is the hardest degree to get a first in
It is more difficult to get a first class degree in law than it is in any other subject, including medicine.

In 2015/16, just under 14% of law students graduated with first class degrees. This is ten percentage points lower than the average across all ‘non-clinical subject areas’ (24%).

By comparison, 28% of students graduating in ‘subjects allied to medicine’ got a first. For engineering and technology the figure is 33%, as it is too for computer science. More essay-based subjects such as social studies, and historical and philosophical studies boasted scores of 20% and 21% respectively. Mathematical sciences topped the table with 37% graduating with a first.

Yeah that’s why lawyers are the smartest people around
Even a 2:2 law graduate is probably as smart as a 1st class accountancy/business graduate for instance.

don't bother

it's either exit to an inhouse role or suck it up and maximise your earning potential

It’s what you want to earn in life
And considerations will be
- do you still want to work past 50, or
- do you want to retire by 40.

Simple.
