Why u want to know bakers? It takes in limited nos of trainees. It typically draws its assoc from magic circle firms.

Same for CC. Only a handful of lucky grads get their training program. $12.5k per month.

Big four 5.6-6k

I'm pretty sure the $12.5k figure is AFTER they qualify as an associate (the CC training programme is two years, during the two years their salary is closer to $7k maybe). There's no way CC would pay twice the amount for a trainee in Singapore compared to a trainee in London, their HQ.

These firms obviously don't take trainees, and only consider experienced qualified lawyers, not relevant for fresh graduates.

Think this might be about right.

But even a 1.5 PQE lawyer in a big 4 would only be drawing ~6.5k. CC is still about double.

U do know that the vast majority of people is getting a 2:1 in law. Yet the market has to absorb this group of people without any idea of who can perform and who cannot perform. The only way is to test them out in a non-comittal role and if they can punch above their weight, then they get upgraded to Associate.

Seriously if u get below a 2:1 (NUS, SMU and overseas), unless someone helps you (and you better be damn grateful about it), chances are you will end up in a Chinatown firm, or 1-5- man show law firm.

Is this the market situation now? Seems like the foreign uni oversupply has gotten quite serious. Maybe MinLaw should cut more unis from the Approved List. We don’t want people from questionable schools practising law

$3k to $4k a month as a paralegal in an international or big 4 firm is a pretty cushy gig. Lower stress less responsibilities won't get chopped for poor billables.

Some international firms also treat paralegal roles as a probationary period for associate roles. It's quite common in UK firms actually.
